Updated: Jul 30, 2019

LED lighting is a popular way to light up your home. You can be creative with colour, brightness and where you place your lighting, and you can even choose from LED down -lighting, LED strip lights and bulbs. They can be used in every room of your home, below we explore how to choose the right LED lighting for your requirements.

LED lighting in the bedroom

Bedroom lighting should be soft and subtle. Opt for an LED reading lamp, or alternatively place an LED strip tape around the bed's headboard to attain an instant reading light. Keep the colour neutral or use soft whites to create a feeling of calm and peace.

LED lighting in the living room

It's always best to use a mixture of different LED light sources in the living room, so that you can have both ambient and task lighting when it is needed. LED angled spotlights can be placed anywhere on the wall and can be used to highlight pictures, ornaments and reading areas. They will also eliminate glare on the TV screen.

LED lighting in the dining room

LED down-lights work very well in the dining room. Place them above the table to create a focused yet soft glow. Decorative LED pendants also create a focal point in the dining room.

LED lighting in the kitchen

The kitchen will need a combination of task lighting situated along worktops with ambient soft lighting around any dining space. LED spotlights in cupboards and under wall-mounted fixtures can provide a good light source when preparing food. LED strip lighting can also be used decoratively along cupboards and items such as noticeboards and shelving.
